In another patient, the shaved buttock of a man with an abscess on each side of the midline, with buttocks stretched apart at the beginning of the operation – a difficult case indeed - because neither side seems healthy enough to be sure of a good healthy flap to bring across the midline. The outline of the palpable abscess/sinus track is marked with the dotted line. Fortunately only one abscess has reached the surface – the one on the right, so this was the side on which the eccentric elliptical excision was based. A flap was created on the left after cleaning out the abscess cavity on that side underneath as it was being created. |
