Open wound healed (scarred), but not closed

Thanks Sasha and others, sorry for the late reply. I visited a plastic surgeon and was told that if I decide to go for the surgery, the open "wound" would be cut more open and stitched together, so it's a closed surgery. Cleft lifts seem to be (very?) rare around here. There is of course again...

Sain miettimisaikaa...

Open wound healed (scarred), but not closed

Thanks. By the sides forming skin, I just mean that the wound forms scar tissue while open, instead of growing closed from the bottom up. Some of these flap surgeries sound pretty "invasive" from what I just read. We'll see what kind of surgery (s)he'll recommend, if any, and what they're...

Open wound healed (scarred), but not closed

To cut a long story short, my wound was operated the 2nd time a year ago and was left open to heal. It was first packed with Aquacel, and lately with Sorbact. I stopped getting it checked out by the surgeron over half a year ago when he said it'd probably heal fine from now on. The healing has...

Moi. Olipas yllätys että tämmönenkin alafoorumi on tänne ilmestynyt. Postasin tänne viimeksi kauan sitten, toisen leikkauksen jälkeen. Ensimmäisessä leukkauksessa haava tikattiin kiinni, mikä oli aika iso yllätys haavan kokoon nähden. Haava näytti lääkärien mukaan "tosi hyvältä", muttei lopulta...

Does removing the packing always hurt?

I've been using Aquacel for my packings, and it rarely hurt any in the first few days, and nowadays it doesn't really hurt at all. And like was said, rinsing has also been painless since some very little pain after the surgery.

    runs in the family

Like ttose52landd, I haven't heard of anyone in our family have this. Me and my uncle have psoriasis though, so bad skin seems to be what runs in our family. That probably also helped my PS to form.

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

Thanks Sasha. Long time no update. The wound is still healing, slowly getting smaller every day. A while back I posted about the "holes" I was seeing on the bottom of my wound, which then disappeared, but after that I've seen something small there every now and then. Well, I finally visited...

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

Went to see the doctor and I was prescribed Kefexin again, to treat the pimple(s) I told about. I seem to get infected hair follicles pretty easily, even when I try to take very good care of my hygiene. I also asked if there was anything I could use on them before they get any worse, and was...

False alarm it seems, I couldn't see the "holes" anymore, looked neat and tidy yesterday after showering again.

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

A month of recovery behind. The wound is still pretty big, and I don't think I'm quite halfway there yet. I think my surgeon was a bit too optimistic when he said I'd heal in a month. :) I think it'll be way over 2 months at this rate. I took antibiotics after the surgery so I don't know if that...

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

Second week behind. The wound is a bit deeper than my approximation in the last post, I'd say 3½ cm. It's gotten a bit smaller, still quite big, but can't stuff as much Aquacel in it than before (15x15cm). Moving to 10x10 when I run out of the bigger ones. At the beginning of the week the...

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

First packing (Aquacel) change today. It was a bit difficult to get out, as it had changed into a gel-like form, as it's supposed to. Little to no pain during taking it out, no pain at all during showering and a bit of bearable pain when putting the new packing in. I thought it'd be a more...

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

Moi! No pain at all actually. I'm taking Burana atm. I think it doesn't hurt because the skin isn't being stretched like with closed surgery. I didn't have that much pain with the stitched wound either really. We'll see in a couple of days if it starts aching. Maybe I'm just lucky and won't...

Had closed surgery, not 100% healed [from Finland]

Yello! Just got back home, as I had an open surgery yesterday, and I'm feeling just fine. No pain, if I don't lie on my back that is. They changed the packing once at the hospital and showered the wound, that didn't really hurt much either, just small twinges. I've been told to use Aquacel and...
