I just wanted to share with all the new people,my lancing was terrible, worst pain ever before during and after,Just had the surgery yesterday around 2 pm and so far so good no pain what so ever, I was scared to death of the surgery and almost backed out at the last minute ( was having a mild panic attack) sitting on the bed all dressed up, started sweating etc .......but then came the sedation , last thing i remember until waking up, was quit nausea after ward, my surgery was late in the day2;30, and nothing to eat since midnight , need some food pretty bad. It's almost 12 hours later and no pain
I think they did the long lasting kind in the hospital, but i am hoping for the best .Waiting to see the surgeon in the morning for the first dressing change.( hope that goes well because the lancing packing was not good) Thankful that I went ahead and had it all done after my first flare up because the Dr said the cyst/abcess was not all that big.I guess i was lucky! Thanks to everyone on here for the site, it has been a great motivator for me to get this thing taken care of! Good Luck everyone!

Yay! So glad to hear from you and that you are doing well! If they used the long lasting anesthesia on you like they did me, you probably won't feel much of anything until about day 5 or 6. Did they tell you how big the wound is? I went to the surgeon the next day to have my first dressing change and I was almost more afraid of that than I was the surgery...I didn't even feel a thing. I know everyone is different. But I was laying there sweating a cold sweat just with anticipation, but it really was nothing. Riding in the car to get there and back was worse, lol. You may just want to lay down in the back seat if you can. Good luck on your healing. Just take it easy and relax...this is your time to soak up being lazy :D Keep us updated!

Hey, first dressing change this morning!! NOPAIN!! all i can say is wow!! After dealing with the lancing i was petrified of going this morning, I even changed doctors after that with the lancing, he was not a nice man.Everything he did hurt hurt hurt, from the latncing to the packing he was just brutal, so I found a new surgeon. All i can say is find one that treats you with respect, my new DR, hasn't hurt me one time and has been just as nice as possible.I am thinking on the long lasting anesthesia maybe that's why i am not hurting? but I like it.....T hanks for the reply good luck to everyone who has this done!!

Just a follow up.Ten days out of surgery and the packing still hurts like crazy, maybe i just have a tender butt.Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using gauze and wetting it with saline solution and packing it in, hurts more to pull it out then to put it in which is just uncomfortable.Today was real good i have been taking it pretty much easy laying down a lot, but today i bent over to pick up a very small stool an i felt a very sharp pain in my back( ouch) now i seem to have pulled a muscle.Which hurts to move at all...just my luck. Also my last to the doc he said not healing much and actually going backwards and to change the packing three times a day.we will see on wed for the next appt. Thanks all!

WHEN YOU ARE IN THE SHOWER WET THE PACKING AND THAT SHOULD MAKE IT COME OUT EASIER.I CHANGED MY DRESSING 2 TIMES A DAY FROM THE START. HAVE THE DR. BURN THE INCISION WITH SILVER NITRATE,HE NEEDS TO APPLY THE NITRATE WITH A Q TIP. IT HURTS ALITTLE BUT THE NITRATE WILL MAKE YOUR TISSUE HEAL FASTER. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF MONTHS FOR THE HOLE TO CLOSE UP COMPLETELY BUT I WAS BACK TO WORK IN 2 WEEKS.PROGRESS WAS SLOW FOR 2 OR 3 WEEKS BUT THEN THINGS STARTED TO HEAL FASTER. IF THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE YOU MIGHT HAVE AN INFECTION STARTING OR HE DID NOT BET IT ALL
    GOOD LUCK
