My scar has looked good from the outside all along after my cleft lift 5 months ago. Just this week though I got this slightly raised pinkish inflamed spot on it. Maybe the size of an eraserhead or a little bigger. Now, a few days later it's purplish. I emailed my dr a pic right away when this happened and he said it looked like a possible small inflammatory nodule on the scar or retained suture. That it looks superficial and sometimes these things come for no reason and scars don't always behave well.. My fear of course is that it is a tract and it's back! Any other cleft lift peeps out there that can tell me if they have had experiences like this? Is this normal? Even on a healed scar? Also if anyone has experienced this is there anything I can do for it to help it heal? Thanks ahead.

It doesn't have the appearance of a blister. Wouldn't a blister be more pus filled looking? This went from pink to purple looking more blood filled maybe with the purple?

my husband remembers it looking like a simple blister, I remember a bit of blood looking to it...then it would pop, I'd have to layer of blister skin, husband would yoink that when it was ready to go then it would leak serous and exudate fluid..the second time it happened and had popped, I was able to see a wound care specialist who gave me a cream that go rid of that and my very long healing time draining hole as well....

So, it wasn't till last night this thing bled after a bowel movement that has been on there or noticed on my scar since Christmas Eve. I was hoping it would look more healed today then. Today it's closed up but looks the same to me as it has since it has come. I'm so nervous. Please don't let it be a newly formed tract! Do you think 5 months later this disease can just come back on top your scar like this when the scar successfully healed all along before this? My husband keeps reassuring me it's got to be surface but if it is what the heck is it and why has it been there since Christmas Eve and not going away?

What instructions did your surgeon give you back when you contacted him with pictures?

No intructions. He told me it looked superficial being surface. I asked why it would form on the scar like that and he said "scars don't behave well, in general. You can get small inflammatory nodule in them for really no reason. You could have a small bit of retain suture as well." I have a lot of scars from previous unrelated surgeries though and this doesn't happen on those. This did however happen with tract issues. It's just bizarre though. Scar healed great and this pops up 5 months later? Idk.
