Hi all! I have had a flare up of my 6th cyst. I have suffered with this problem since I was 23. I also have had the surgery to get the track removed and my cyst still occur in the same spot as my surgery scar. To make things more complicated I am about 8 weeks pregnant. I recently moved to Oklahoma from Colorado and I have no idea which doctor to go to. My question to all of you is 1) has anyone had surgery and still have had cyst re-occur and 2) does anyone know of a good doctor in the Oklahoma City area. As I am sure all of you know it is sometimes a hit or miss with doctors. I don't want a miss! Also, since I am pregnant and limited on medications right now, are there any other remedies that I can use or take? Thanks for reading and helping everyone
Hi veemer11, Here is a list of surgeons recommended by users of this site: http://www.pilonidal.org/_assets/pdf/db_md_pdf/PiloMDs_USA_7_2012.pdf Please see this medical paper by doctors John and Tom Bascom (Father/Son): http://nwsurgicalspecialists.com/files/utility of the cleft lift.pdf The Bascoms have developed a successful treatment surgery for pilonidal disease. The surgical treatment is known as the "cleft lift" procedure. This surgery is used to treat patients who've had multiple failed surgeries and reccurent cysts. Personally, I've had two recurrences of the pilonidal cyst and am scheduled to undergo the cleft lift procedure next week. Please please please read up on the cleft lift procedure and find a surgeon who can perform this surgery. Patients who've had multiple surgeries (like yourself) were healed by only 1 cleft lift. The cleft lift has a 100% success rate if performed correctly. More resources for you to read regarding the cleft lift: http://www.pilonidal.org/_assets/pdf/bascom_cleft_lift.pdf http://www.pilonidal.org/_assets/pdf/bascom.pdf My story is here if you are interested: http://www.pilonidal.org/xfforums/index.php?threads/my-ongoing-pilonidal-battle.8814/ I'm sorry I cannot offer you any advice for being pregnant and dealing with this cyst, but I'm sure someone on this site will! Good luck! -Leist22
Thank you so much for the info. I have an appointment with my new general practitioner tomorrow morning so I hope it all goes well. It's very painful to deal with this on no pain meds. It makes moving and sitting very hard to do. Here's to at least getting a successful lance tomorrow!
