I had open excision surgery about a year ago at UCLA medical. (WORST DECISION EVER, do NOT get open excision surgery) everything was normal for the first few weeks then I had to keep going back for silver nitrate treatments because the wound wouldn't close.

I eventually stopped going to because it's a 2 1/2 hour drive and I had to pay $25 everytime which adds up fast on a college student budget.

I kept packing but eventually gave up as the wound wouldn't close and I've just been living with it for about 7-8 months now.

Now there appears to be an extremely painful cyst that has formed above the wound and I'm starting to look for cleft lift surgeons in the SoCal area.

Am I looking at another surgery? I'm worried that I'll have to withdraw from my courses this semester because of recovery time.

It sounds like you still have an unhealed wound from the first procedure, and now a sinus tract, abscess, or cyst is developing as well. I would say, that you are right - you need another procedure. The cleft-lift is the best option.

    Man that's rough..
I can agree that an open excision is not worth it.
Def look into a cleft lift, there's a list of surgeons on here that lists where they are located
    Good luck man
