I wasn't all that painful most of the time after surgery, it mainly hurt when I would move in a way my body didn't like....I only used the pain killers I was given for a few days, they made me conk so I switched to tylenol....

you'll be spending most of the first two to three weeks mostly on your sides or stomach anyway, it's going to be tender in your surgery site for sitting for that time, it takes time to build up sitting time again, sitting until it hurts then getting off it again, I think it took three weeks for me to be able to lean back and sit....but recovery from the cleft lift is pretty easy compared to open and closed, it will mainly only hurt if you move wrong like you got up too quickly and then pain but like I said earlier, you'll be spending most of your time at first on your sides or stomach....I remember getting more pain in my hips from leaning on my sides than from the actual surgery site....

as far as the surgery goes, it was pretty calm there that I recall, I signed in, I waited a bit, they took me in the back, I changed, I did a pee test to check if I was preggers, I waited a bit more, got an IV, waited a bit more, they wheeled me in, I then remember saying something that made them laugh then I was out....woke up on my back with a big bunch of bandaging on my butt but no pain...I had to hang out a bit while the sleepy drugs wore off then I was home after that....

also wear loose clothing on your surgery day, nothing tight like jeans, wear sweat pants, you don't want anything pushing on the surgery site....one more thing, get a tush cush or a coccyx pillow, these will help for car rides and when you sit at first....

Thank you for your reply kittygirl. That difinitly makes me more calm about the sergury. I just hope I can return to normal again soon and hopefully never have to deal with this problem again. I hear cleft lift is the sergury with the smallest recurance rate and dr stienberg is very good at what hi dos. Just knowing that this thing can come back even after a sergury is shaking me to my boots. I am trying to be positive but it's tough.

you'll be fine, I admit I lost sleep worrying about it too but the surgery day itself was so calm and easy, it'll be a breeze....

how long did it take to feel normal again after the cleft lift like bending or seating with no problems or pain?
I'm going to almost year three since my surgery so my memory is getting hazy on that, can't quite remember anymore....sorry...
