I've had surgery twice - had a sinus etc on the left for about 6 years and it used to swell and bleed but never caused me much pain so didn't do anything about it, thought it would go away. Anyway eventually I reached 30 and decided I should go to the Doctor and found out what it was...a pilonidal sinus, and that I needed surgery under General Anasthetic, couldn't believe it! So 3 years ago had it done, an Excision with packing afterwards for a few weeks, it healed up fine but was a long process.

Then I noticed the same thing on my Right cheek! So this time I didn't hang around and went down the Drs, got referred to hospital and had the surgery a week ago - this time the Bascom procedure, stitched up (this all on the British National Health Service, ie free but don't expect luxuries!) Currently at home off work, tried going back to work for a couple of mornings but the wound is too tender to sit on for long - the nurse who dressed it yesterday said 'the bruising is coming out' - has anyone else who has had the Bascom experienced this - what was your healing time? I've also been given antibiotics in case of infection. I don't think the Bascom procedure is well known in this country, at least my Doctor was really surprised when he heard I had been stitched up this time. I'll let you know how the 2 different procedures compare if this one heals up OK.
