Hi there

Has anyone had any experience with Mepitel?

Basically it's a silicone sheet which you can place in your wound to stop the gauze and saline sticking to your skin. I have only ever used Alginate dressings to pack my last two and current wound, which are totally painless to change, however my surgeon is really insistent we use gauze and saline from Monday as he feels this will promote better and stronger healing. I am really worried about the pain involved in removing the gauze once it's been in there for 24 hours and stuck to the skin, so I asked my mum (who's a nurse) to ask around for another alternative and she came up with Mepitel.
I know that if I soak the gauze in the bath it will come off more easily but 1. I can't sit in the bath, my [oyo] too sore! and 2. it's still gonna hurt right?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm seeing the surgeon for a follow-up consult tomorrow night.
