Hi, am new to this forum and have recently been told I have a pilonidal cyst a few months ago. After draining it, my doctor said that I can do without excision for now, unless it worsens in the future. I have since then had a couple laser hair removal treatments as scheduled by my doctor. My doctor prescribed me 2 weeks of Cipro for my pilonidal after a swab showed that bacterial infection was present. I am rather wary of modern medicine, do no drugs, and only take prescriptions if it is absolutely required. Also, it seems that there is some consensus that antibiotic treatment like Cipro does not boast any long term benefit, and if anything only provides short-term relief from inflammation/infection. And also after taking it, the infection will likely return while the cyst is still present. If this is true, then why is it even prescribed to me? Is it enough to just wash the area well daily? Anyways, I would like to hear any opinions on whether skipping use of Cipro could be dangerous for me. I would also like to hear of any more natural options such as ointments or antibacterial agents I could use instead of Cipro. Thank-you, I value your opinions.
