    hey guys,

So I'm new to this forum.. I hope i get the help I'm looking for.. my post is going to be a bit long so please bear with me...

Well so here is my story..I'm 23 years old female i stay in dubai...i had never heard of pilonidol sinus up till June 2014. Before I even heard about this I always had a weird pain in my tailbone whenever i had my periods but not so severe I ignored it thinking its normal since it always used to go away as soon as my periods get over. So In June 2014 i had severe pain in my tailbone, I could not understand what it was I went to a Gyno thinking its something related to my periods well the gyno was even smarter than me and without even examining the area she suggested that i have polysistic overies, i was in severe pain and she gave me some pills and a gel and sent me home, After 2 days of severe pain I could not take it anymore I went back to her saying that your shitty meds are not working she started asking me questions and she realized that it was pilonidol before i went to her for the second time I had already googled the symptons and came to the conclusion that it was pilonidol. But the weird thing was I dint get any cyst It was just pain there was no pimple nothing just pain I tried googling this but i could not find anything. Most of the cases that I have read all have a cyst..a pimple kind of something which they can pop.... mine is not like that...well anyways so the gyno sent me to another hospital to a surgeon who had done such surgeries before. I was in literally in hell i dint care if the doctor was good or not i just wanted to not feel the pain...so i went through the surgery and as soon as i woke up the pain was gone such a relief... but i still had a painful recovery after the surgery. It took me a month to recover to fully recover. The pain was only when I had to go to change my dressing. It was an open wound btw no stitches.

Anyways the doctor suggested I go through another surgery which he said will give a 90% chance of no recurrence but it was expensive so I said no as I had enough of pain. He asked to get sessions of laser hair removal in that area to avoid recurrence, i dint do that either.

I was perfectly fine for the past 1 and half year. then I got a job where I have to sit 5 hours a day and i have to travel atleast 3 hours daily. My tailbone started hurting again, not so severe but im scared its coming back its been more than a month now that I have this uncomfortable pain as I told u guys earlier i dont get a proper cyst which I can pop so I not sure If its coming back or if its just the scar tissue from the previous operation that a hurting. I read in a forum online about using tea tree oil and castor oil on the effected area with some heat from a hot water bag. I have been doing that since 2 week now and I have not felt any permanent change I do get temporary relief. I'm also having garlic tablets that has not helped either.
I try to keep that area as clean as possible....but nothing is working

Guys please give me a suggestion ..if anyone can understand or relate to my problem please help im really stressed out...i cant imagine going through that operation again and plus i just got a new job there is no way I can take a months leave.....

Sorry to hear your struggling with this :/
For the sitting look into donut type shaped cushions, those seem to help people a lot with the pain.
Also (let's hope this won't happen again) if you need another surgery, try and find someone in your area that does a cleft lift. That surgery is a breeze in healing time and pain wise compared to the open wound surgery.
No one should ever have to endure that open wound surgery, especially twice.

Maybe worth getting an ultrasound (or MRI) done so you know if it's back or not or sure?
Doesn't feel like Laser Treatment or hair removal would help your situation... weird isn't it. Maybe it does stem back to a blocked pore at some stage... but I can relate to why you wouldn't go through hair removal. (my surgeon does stress though how important it is - I'm going to use a Hair/Nose Groomer)
I'm also trying to assess whether probiotics are helping me. We know everything of late, including this disease and the immune system are affected by gut bacteria and after having antibiotics I've kept up the probiotics and feeling positive as my other HS is being kept at bay... so far. Plus I empty my bowels much more regularly and wonder if that has been a problem in the past...

The antibiotics that really nail it for me are Clindamycin, but normally the GP's give me something less powerful like Amoxilin or Flucloxocilin.. I don't have heaps of antibiotics... you definitely want to avoid them as much as possible... but there are cases and stages where you need them and can't risk not taking them.

A nurse said to me "it will be what it will be..." you can't change it. I've had these things coming and going to 20 years... recently I've had surgery and pretty focussed on it, except realistically... my life has gone pretty OK for 40 years.... it's not a really big deal in the scheme of things... you deal with it. So yeah... don't get bought down by it... it will be what it will be.
