Hello my name is Dustin. I'm 21 years old and had my first Pilonidal experience 2 years ago and it's back. To make it short around this time 2 years ago I rushed to the ER to have my Pilonidal cyst lanced. It was so painful I had to be sedated by an IV. It's back and the pain is pretty bad. I suppose I'm going to get it lanced again. Now that's it's a recurring thing I know I need surgery. I haven't heard great things about Open surgeries but I've heard good things about the cleft surgery. Any advice would be very appreciated. This thing literally is Satan himself.
hey hey! well im also newish here so i cant offer a great deal of advice. All i know is i got mine for the first time about a month ago and had to have surgery under general anesthetic because they couldnt lance it and it was really bad. it has been healing as an open wound, and going well considering i had a 15cm drain left in for the first 3 days and daily packing changes and dressings done since then. much to my surprise and the nurses, its only about 1cm deep now! they thought it would take alot longer to get to this stage. I have been on antibiotics basically since ive had it done because as soon as i stop it gets abit rank BUT other than that its ok. Had 2 weeks off work but am back fulltime now and coping fine. I dont know anything about cleft lifts etc and as this was my first one and came on really suddenly I dont know what other options are about really. i just went into the ER and they did the surgery as soon as they could. But as far as open healing,id say its good. it takes a while to heal but ive been taking alot of vitamins and eating well so i guess that has helped it. I hope you sort something out as all of us know how excruciating these can be
