    hi,
Well, my cyst came on pretty quickly, within a week I had slight pain which I thought was sitting for too long due to travelling to 2 days later not being able to do anything but lay in bed on my side as it was so swollen and painful to walk, stand, sit, even roll over.I went to the dr who gave me painkillers and antibiotics because the skin was too hard to lance it. By the end of the week I was in EXCRUCIATING pain (I've broken bones and all kinds of things and that felt like nothing compared to this) and was laying in bed crying my little heart out before finally going back to the doctors as it had only gotten bigger. He referred me to the hospital and 6 hours of waiting I was seen and it was still too hard to lance, but also too big and they said lancing wouldnt fix it and local anesthetic wouldnt work.
Anyway next day got the surgery, stayed overnight, got to fly home (yeah was on holiday at the time-woo) 2 days later and am now healing well.

I had a 15cm drain that was left in because there was quite alot of pus etc (sorry, gross i know) and it's healing as an open wound. Yesterday I got the drain taken out because it's still oozing but coming through the wound instead of the tube,so I am getting daily packing into the hole which is 60cm of wick or whatever it's called. It hurts and is uncomfortable but nothing compared to the pain before the surgery.
Had a week off work already and am hoping to not have too much more off.
Anyway I've got off topic, my question was has anyone who has had open wound healing etc got reoccuring cysts? I've read 40-50% of people will, but surgery makes it less likely as it removes it more than lancing does.
If anyone can share their experiences I would appreciate it muchly :)
Thanks, and thanks if you read this whole thing too!

I had chronic infections/reoccuring cysts post open excision for around 2.5 years before getting the cleft lift surgery (and subsequent surgeries recently due to wound infections) :(
My full story is probably on the front page of the forum - but it sounds like if it's oozing puss that that may be infected!
Hope you can get back to normal soon :(

ARE YOU SURE THAT IT IS PUSS, I HAD OPEN HEALING WITH PACKING AND WHENEVER THE BANDAGE AND PACKING WERE CHANGED THE PACKING GAUZE HAD A YELLOWISH COLOR. THE NURSE THAT CHANGED MY DRESSING FOR THE FIRST TIME TOLD ME THAT THAT IS NORMAL AND SHE CALLED IT SOMETHING BUT I CANNOT REMBER WHAT SHE CALLED IT. SHE TOLD ME THAT IF THERE IS ANY BAD SMELL THAN THAT MEANS THAT IT IS INFECTED.EVERYTIME THAT MY GIRLFRIEND CHANGED MY BANDAGE SHE WOULD SMELL THE PACKING(IF THATS NOT TRUE LOVE I DONT KNOW WHAT IS).THERE NEVER WAS A BAD SMELL AND THERE WAS YELLOW DISCHARGE ON MY PACKING TILL IT WAS CLOSED, I THINK THAT EVEN AFTER IT WAS CLOSED THERE MIGHT HAVE STILL BEEN SOME DISCHARGE BECAUSE FOR SOME TIME THE WOUND WOULD FEEL DAMP EVEN WHEN I WAS NOT SWEATING.HAVE YOU DOCTOR BURN IT WITH SILVER NITRATE ONCE A WEEK AND IT WILL HELP IT HEAL FASTER
IF YOU NOTICE ANY SMELL GET TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE THAT MEANS THAT IT IS INFECTED
IT HAS BEEN 31/2 YEARS SINCE MY SURGERY AND IT HAS HEALED FINE, THE SCAR TISSUE BOTHERS ME SOMETIMES BUT NOT MUCH NOW

Yes I agree that is true love!!you'd wanna put a ring on that one!
Well I had ti go back on antibiotics the second week because it got infected again but because the nurses have to pack it everyday they keep a good eye on it. Even said its slowly starting to heal a little so that's good. Im glad you've been free of it for this long that's awesome news :)

another tip jess, if you keep getting recurring infections/the antibiotics aren't working properly - ask them to do a swab and get them to see what antibiotics actually work! i had to do that with mine
