Packing removal two days after emergency lancing?

#1
Hi everyone, I’m new here and I have been dealing with my first cyst since about Monday.

It started off just sore, but from last Tuesday to Saturday it swelled to about the size of a tennis ball and the pain was awful. We did schedule a cleft lift consultation with Dr. Marc Brand but that isn’t until next Tuesday. One of my sinus tracts did open up and was leaking a lot on its own, but I was woken up early Saturday morning with excruciating pain so my mom took me to the ER to have it lanced.

The lancing itself was horrifyingly painful and I honestly would not wish that pain on my worst enemy. The doctor packed it, and told me I could leave the packing as is (even take showers!) and just have someone remove it in about two days.

I am going to try to see my primary doctor tomorrow to see if she can’t remove it, but my question is: is it going to hurt as bad coming out as it did going in? Having it packed in the ER was horrible and I really don’t want to go through that pain again when my primary takes it out. Should I take one of the high strength painkillers before I see my primary?
