I am a 30 year old female who is 35 weeks pregnant. I am currently experiencing my second pilonidal cyst. My first was 5 years ago and I am not sure what they had all done to me. I think it was just lanced but I know that I had to pack it with gauze for a long time so maybe I did have the surgery. All I know is that is was more painful than childbirth without a doubt. I told my Obstetrician about it last Monday and she had had them many years ago and told me to soak in the tub for 10 minutes every 6 hours and gave me an antibiotic. Well finally on Friday it popped and the pain continues but is feeling much better. I am supposed to see a surgeon on Tuesday even though it has popped so I have someone to go to if it comes back again. My question is will they do surgery even though I am pregnant and could potentially go into labor? Will they even do anything since it has popped other than look at it? Should my OB have done something more? Has anyone else been able to have it pop on its own and it been successful without medical intervention other than antibiotics?
