hello everybody and Thank God I find this forum and this is my story . Im a 43 years old male, good health until this last September I had done 2 surgeries near the anal area (Sphincterotomy + Fistulotomy) then just last month right after I had felt healed I noticed a small red pimple below my tailbone I thought sooner or later it will go away right ? Wrong ,when I went to my Surgeon (colon rectal surgeon) he confirmed that it is a Pilonidal cyst he want me to go home and if it get bad he will do the cutting and I will do the packing . Really ? It's unfair in addition of the high rate of recurrence it will come to hunt me again . I m so devastated and sad I really don't know what am suppose to do anymore after I was done with the other issues , yes thank God that I m healed from the other surgeries but now I have a Pilo what a crap ?!! sorry folks just want to scream loud I m so sad cos I m out of my job and I have to pay pile of bill from last surgeries lol and what make it worse is the horror stories I have been reading : 4 surgeries ,6 surgeries , recurrence , pain , wound vacuum....ect , people suffer for years what the heck is going on ??? At this 21 century the modern health filed could do a heart transplant to a different humans body and could easily remove a brain tumor but they couldn't get any kind of easy way to get rid of this darn Pilonidal abscess ?Im totally confused .
Anyway some nice members told me to do the Cleft Lift and according to their experience it is the best procedure for the Pilo , don't take me wrong I understand that always there is a risk after any kind of surgery but I just want some hope to get my life back again ,and I want to make sure to do the right procedure for PC, so I m going for the cleft-lift it seems like the golden one to cure the PC and everybody swear by it that will success , I m going to arrange my time to make an appointment with Doctor David Lambert in Mckinney Texas, although it is almost 4 hours drive I ll go for it.

I m very thankful that I find such a very helpful people doing an amazing

humanitarian act and helping each others.

Thank you so very much and again sorry about my language .

I appreciate that! I don't blame you for wanting to get those other things taken care of first lol.
Ikr? That would be nice lol. We def can keep in touch on here though! :)
I had to call and get a consultation which is today and I'm seeing him in 15min.
He has to check and see if I (and everyone else from what I understood) to make sure that the surgery needs/can be done for the case.
What I did (just incase he says I do need it) I got a surgery slot held for me tomorrow afternoon.
That way if I am, I don't have to drive back here again in a few days or weeks.
So just call to get a consultation, and get a surgery time slot held if possible.

98% success rate, so that's amazing. Lol
No complications that I remember him mentioning.
He said full recovery is around 8 weeks.
He did act like the pain would be meh but that it wouldn't be anything horrible. (I don't think any surgery is worse than the open wound).
$ just depends on the insurance I assume :/
I think me/my family has to pay around $2.5/3k with our insurance company.
That would be lower but I couldn't get an out of state referral so if you get that it should be lower.

nice the 98% success rate , thank you you make my day lol .
did he says the recovery is up to 2 month or that is the average time for everybody?
still a good deal cos it toke me almost 3 month to recover from other surgeries .
I just call the Dr office they told me I have to be there first so we can decide what we need to do.
I have Blue Cross B.S insurance I hope they pay for everything lol .Thanks alot for the reply .

Ikr? Lol that rate made my day too!
Yeah they make you do a consultation but you probably can set up a surgery time slot the next day like I did which is helpful!
He acted like yes 2 months is the average healing time. I agree, mine is 4+ months post op and still isn't healed it sucks! Lol
He acted like honestly after 1/2 weeks it shouldn't be that bad pain wise.
FYI, he will make you do 4/5 follow ups with him in McKinney. That's the only downside but it's worth it !

Good luck tyty. Eight weeks is usually when you are cleared for all activity but the actual healing time may be less. For those who have the cleft lift as a first surgery they do tend to experience less pain and quicker recovery due to less scar tissue etc. I just don't want you to be shocked if you do find it painful to start. Let us know how you do!

    Thank you so much Lilly!
    Sounds good!
Yeah I actually just read that somewhere recently :/ lol ugh.
As long as it's not as painful as my open wound recovery, I'll be okay lol.
    Will do for sure!
I'll probably start a new thread on here about it all in a few days.

Hi , how was your trip ? did you feel any pain while driving ? can you describe your journey post surgery ? how much long the incision your surgeon had to make ? do you take any meds? do you notice any drainage ? I hope you are doing well

Trip was meh but I made it lol.
I laid on my stomach the whole way home while my mom drove and that did pretty okay, just had to stop twice to stretch my back.
So far post wise it's just pain and that's about it. I'm able to walk (not a ton though) lay on my side and stomach with just some minor pain.
I decided to try and avoid pain meds because the constipation that would come with it would be hell on earth like it was when I had the open wound lol. Don't want that again.
The incision is probably 4/5 inches long and drainage is just mostly blood. It's easy to change, you just put a gauze on the ends on the drain, tape it over, and that's it.
Thanks! It's a bit rough now but I know I'll be alright in a few days!

Thank you very much for the replay , just came from hospital cos I had a bad flare up and I immediately called and my CRS want to see me very thankful he accept to see me it was a miracle. he check on me and he said it is infected and he said he could operate on me tomorrow morning if I agree , and he said it doesn't look big but it should be drained before it will make tunels , I did agreed to do the incision but I m so nervous if that will be a mistake and it will make the wound bigger and worried about the infection , he said he doese that for 16 years and never failed but one case which the patient doesn't take care of the wound and didst pack it correctly , but still really I dont know if I m doing the right thing ?? please if you have any opinion let me know , thx bro

    Update
On Wednesday night my pilo burst with pus and blood it was very painful.
On the 10th Thursday morning went to hospital at 8.00 am. they make me ready for the operation , my case is unknown I know Im dam because I didn't ask . I and my wife were very desperate . after the procedure I was still under lala land and I couldn't wake up from the anesthesia until 2 hours later , my wife drove me home no pain at all .next day my surgeon fortunately called me to check on me he said he make a cut 2 inch long and 1 inch deep and didnt find any hair or anything only a granulation which he cauterized it, so I dont know what we should call this operation ? is it an excision or lancing ? next Thursday I will ask him more info , so right now I m packing it twice a day with a sterile strip I add to it Manuka honey my surgeon suggested to do that but it sting the first few seconds and showering twice a day as well it help to remove the packing , all in all Im wondering what the heck is wrong with me coz I was planing to do the Cleft lift but I ended up here in this situation. I hope Im on the right path , we will see what's the next lol

It almost sounds to me like you had an open wound surgery. You really should ask your doctor the specifics next time you see him, especially if you went in thinking you were getting a cleft lift and didn't, you definitely need to know why. I had a closed surgery done in May, I was awake for mine and my doctor was able to communicate with me the whole time, I definitely liked that, especially because we had a plan going in and he said he wouldn't know for what he would end up doing til he really saw it, we stuck to the original plan but I would've been surprised going in expecting one thing and coming out with something different.

Hopefully your at least feeling better, maybe you have some relief now! But definitely ask your doctor for sure what happened!
