Yes I totally agree with you , but it s a luck of English I only speak french fluently lol . but it is my fault to not to ask about the expectation ,in the fact the all nurses are very nice to me and I still remember after I signed some papers the surgeon come to me he said something to me but maybe I was in panic attack I couldn't understand what he was saying . hopefully this one will be the last , Im so tired of surgeries I just need a break .

Hopefully this will be the last surgery! I'm sure your doctor will be able to clear everything up for you and answer all your questions and concerns! I hope healing goes smoothly for you!

I think you had a lancing, you're changing a little shoelace like strip of gauze each day? that should be a lancing, the strip is to keep the hole from closing up before it heals from within....you should make sure then talk to your surgeon, he may not want to do surgery while you have an active infection, mine made me wait a month....

    • Today was my 1st follow up , my surgeon said it does looks fine , there is no infection and I should continue what I have been doing basically packing ,cleaning and removing the hair , I asked him about my procedure he said it was a simple incision, he find a chronic infected granulation he then cauterized it and leave it open , I told him about the pain I still have he responded that an open wound in this specific area obviously will hurt , so Im stuck with Tramadol 50mg and Ibuprofen. Oh Lord Im already tired of packing the wound also my hips hurt like crazy coz there is no other position to sleep than sleeping on my sides , anyway hopefully this week the pain will get easy on me , I wounder if somebody have the same issue will give me any advice . thx

Check out the wound healing info on this site. It explains the process quite well and you should expect pain for the first five days or so at a level where you need pain relief round the clock. After day five, things should improve as wound healing progresses. If you are packing, it will still hurt when you do packing changes.

Thank you very much , Im going t look unto it , and I m happy for your daughter doing ok , yes while Im packing my wound I get a sharp pain it stays for hours , I still have some hydrocodone from the last surgery I ll give it a tray even if I hate taking this kind of meds it makes me nerves .
I think I still have the other option which I was planning to do the Cleft-Lift procedure if my surgery failed . Thanks again

Today is the 25th days post-op.
I have had my follow up with my surgeon yesterday he said everything looks nice like always and the wound is 90% healed , but I still have some pain like a burning sensation he said he doesn't know about that so I hope is not a nerve damage, and I still have a small hole doesn't want to close and sometimes drains some pus but he still think there is no infection and told me no more packing , by the way yesterday was the last day for him to do the surgeries coz he is moving to a different state for different job so they gonna refer me to a new young general surgeon I hope he will be an angel fix for me .
some questions : how can I reduce the pain without damaging the wound? as it is just 25th days po-op is it too early for the wound to close and the pain to go down ?

    Farid,
You took the words right out of my mind when you said this:
"At this 21 century the modern health filed could do a heart transplant to a different humans body and could easily remove a brain tumor but they couldn't get any kind of easy way to get red of this darn Pilonidal abscess ?Im totally confused"

I just find it weird that my eye surgeon was able to cut out my cornea, put a new one in and stitch it in place with 16 sutures, or that my Aunt can have all the calves in her heart replaced with valves from a pig's heart, but these dang cysts dont have a "for sure" sure. lol. They are so pesky!

That s very true my friend , last year I had a big cut in my anal canal due to the constipation (sorry about the graphic) and I had to have surgery for it in order to fix it they have to go deep and cut (relax) a muscle surrounding the canal anus, the surgeon said 98% success rate and it is 100% although this area is favorable forming for billion of bacteria ,in less a couple month it looked like I have never have surgery ,but now with this Pilo it seems like hopeless and endless surgeries .what a misery !?! I hope my last option the Cleft-Lift will do the trick if it doesn't work then Ill have to give up for the death row lol

Hi Farid, I've read your thread and geez mate... you've been through the wars and deserve some luck!

I don't think it will be around forever... age is on our side. Interesting you had so many complications in the same region, maybe one leads to another and you're at the end of the run.

You mentioned about sore hips from lying on your side. That will be history for now, but next time, use a pillow between your thighs to keep your hips straight. I have the same problems. There are specialty memory foam comfort pillows for this purpose - but a pillow will do.

I hate to give opinion above that of a medical professional as I am absolutely not. But something doesn't make sense in your last post.... if it really is Pus. Look up 'Exudate Types'. Pus is Purulent discharge.... it indicates infection. You would need antibiotics... in my case they did IV antibiotics and rushed an open excision as the Cleft Lift is not available in Australia. But in your case they might nail the infection with some strong antibiotics while you schedule and actual Cleft Lift. It sounds like everyone's preference but depending on your constraints... it's not the only solution. Read the "I'm healed" forum for some positive stories.

Thank you brother for the info I really hope is not an infection thou, even my surgeon stated that it is not also doesn't want me to take antibiotic, from what I see on my pic the exudate looks like white cheesy pus from one area and an other brownish pus from other side of the wound , in the fact very little , I ll have an app on the 11th will see ...

    Update
the 11th was my first follow up with the new surgeon , he seems very helpful talking with me about my case , he said that I still have a small hole by the way today it was exuded some yellow pus ( he said it look like a pit} and he can't do anything right now until it flare up or get infected he said the hole will close then reopen more often, and I need to make sure it s clean . also he mentioned that if I want to do surgery he said he would open it again and clean it then stitch it , he said the success rate for it is 99% which make me look at him with a wide open mouth lol .I told him about the Cleft-Lift he said Im not a good candidate to have it , so fugue out lol
Hi Tonster how are you doing man ?I hope you are doing better
