To make a story short, my syst bursted and I had to go the ER too wait 7 hours they sliced it and drained it, went to my orginal appointment monday and he said I needed surgery. I got it cut wider and packed wednesday. Some questions I'm having trouble with and could use some advice for are any tips on taking the pain away when removin the gauze or packing it in and is it painful the whole time or get's less painful when healing begins. Also is their anyway to prevent quicker healing and prevent a reoccurence (links are appreciated) Also when is physical activity appropiate (Rugby).

I'm not sure if you just had the incision, or if you had the surgery too. My lancing packing was worse than my surgery packing. The doc said it would come out "like a wet noodle," but it did not. I wish I had soaked prior to that one.

But either way, take your pain pills about 20-30 minutes before packing so that they kick in. I would lay on my side, and help spread my cheeks a little while the nurse or my mom packed it. They put a piece of gause that was soaked in saline over it, then pushed it in with a qtip. I experienced very little pain. The saline makes the packing easier, as well as packing removal. Before removing the packing, take a bath or shower. Getting the packing wet will soften it and make it easier to remove.

If you just had the lancing, then you want somewhat quick healing. Its the open excision surgeries that you dont want to heal to fast. Did you have surgery or just an incision?

I was able to get back to physical activity at 5 weeks. As far as rugby, I imagine that getting hit in that area is fairly common, so i'd be extremely careful.
