Alright, I was googling my issue and ended up here. Might as well share my story as well, though no one will probably read this.
I’ve had this thing on my rear end for about a year now. It’d get a little sore but never too bad. Well, a week ago it flared up. Bad. I went into the ER in such excruciating pain, it was horrid. This incompetent doctor gave me the name of this ‘pilonidal cyst’, instructions on keeping it clean, and then attempted to do local anesthesia, but FAILED at numbing it. Twice. He then proceeded to lance it and clean it out, all the while with me screaming at the top of my lungs. He asked me to keep it down, I told him to fuck off and gladly only swore once. It was awful though, the pain was so unbearable. I was crying and screaming and begging him to stop saying I couldn’t take it anymore, and the only response he had was that “this isn’t the worst pain you’re going to feel in your lifetime”. Which he said three times throughout my lancing.
Then, afterward, they didn’t even bandage it. They left a loose piece of gauze just sitting on it, then told me I could get dressed and leave. I got two days worth of minor painkillers, and then was told to use generic acetaminophen. I still wasn’t sure what was going on, he never really explained what it was to me. By the time I was discharged I had two painkillers in me and could hardly walk. I’m 17 and had to face my first lancing (the single most painful thing I have ever experienced) alone. I was horrified and confused and didn’t know at all what to do after or how to take care of it. I came back in 3 days later for a follow-up to change the packing, which went a lot better than my initial visit. This different doctor explained everything, told me what to do, how to change it, and actually gave me the supplies to do so (first doctor didn’t give me anything but a prescription for the painkillers) and actually bandaged it this time.
Anyway, this has been a ridiculously horrendous experience, very painful, and I can imagine childbirth would be less painful than this. These past two weeks have been absolutely unbearable. And I have to go change my packaging right now…I’m already in tears and we haven’t started yet. This is going to hurt…:(
