Pete’s story

January 30, 2016

To fellow Pilos, I am 24 year old male and my yearlong Pilonidal Cyst has recently healed 3 weeks after a pit picking.

I give a virtual hug to you and know how painful it is to walk, sit, and lie down with this condition. I also know how scary it is to see blood in the bathroom and not know why it’s happening. Initially, I thought I had hemorrhoids so I believed my body would heal itself. Fortunately, after a few months of worrying why it wasn’t healing, I learned about Pilonidal Cysts (with help of this website!) and found out it couldn’t heal without surgical intervention.

The pit picking procedure lasted about 15 minutes and I experienced pain relief the day of the procedure. After that it took 3 weeks for my cavity to heal “bottom up.” It’s a long road ahead for me and there may be bumps along the way (pun intended) but I hope your Pilonidal gets kicked in the butt like mine did so far!
