So it’s been a long 2 years 5 surgerys in that time. I’m know 5 weeks post op and it hasn’t been easy they cut me good and proper this time to really get in there and get it all out . It had come back in my previous tissue scar tissue for the 4th time . They managed to close the wound which was great until the stitches came out and the whole lot opened up and fluid gushed out . They think my drain wasn’t in for long enough after surgery only 24 hours at the hospitals request . I was left with a 8cm long 4cm wide and 4.7cm deep open wound which is very close to my rectum 1cm After being sent to tissue viability they decided that negative pressure wound therapy was the right option for me . I’m know 3 weeks into this and it’s all looking great it’s know 6cm long 3 cm wide and 2.5cm deep. Negative pressure wound therapy is great it’s making a huge difference. It can be very uncomfortable having it changed and feels weird when the vacuum is on but you get used to it . I’m hoping I get no problems once healed . I do have a lot of nerve pain after cutting the same area 5 timed that I’m worried about . All onto my bottom cheeks is numb and stings but hopefully over time it will get better

Are you in the UK? If so you need to see Dr Asha Senapati, she is the specialist in this area and advises against the use of negative pressure therapy as an operation called the ‘cleft lift’ can rid you of this open wound problem once and for all. I had NPWT and it was horrible for me. She did a cleft lift on me and solved it. I would urge you to see her at the very least for a second opinion.

All the best

I am yes . I’ll do some research the negative pressure therapy is helping it heal . I’m half way healed after 4 weeks. But I’m worried it will come back again

How did you get on with negative pressure dressings there is a new one the pico 7 dressing which is small fits in you're pocket it's not like big vacuum one and machine it's healing my wound up 2cm deep minimal pain can walk around with it doesn't alarm if it's done properly can stay on up to 5 day's pushing it to it's limit

It wasn’t fun pretty painful on dressing changes I had such a large wound I had to have bigger one for a month then went to the pico which was a lot better. I finished treatment after 7 weeks. Fully healed but still having problems I’ve had 3 sinus holes open since surgery. And waiting more treatment

Cleft lift might be the way to go

Seems that pico heals it fully

But than the soft skin tissue breaks down when treatment stops.

Signs is yellow liquid than pain increases than pink blood than 2cm deep
