I had a Cleft Lift Surgery around 3 years back - has been a long road but was on the way to recovering (so I thought). Recently though I had a bad pain appear in the area which then began to bleed quite badly. I went to the doctors and they said that the wound is infected and an abscess has formed underneath the scar which has burst (hence the blood/discharge) - gave me some antibiotics and this seemed to clear it up. Went to the toilet this morning and noticed more blood on the tissue paper from the wound site again. Ive had a little bit of discharge there since the flare up but this was noticebly worse and concerning enough for me to book a doctors appointment. I have recently been cycling which I think has brought all of this on. Anybody still having problems from Cleft Lift for this amount of time after the surgery? Thanks

Oh man sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble that far down the line. I have only had my cleft lift for about 2 months but mine has already broken open and need more surgery. What I did want to mention is that my surgeon said to me that with this condition it will never fully go away all they can do is give you the most amount of time between procedures which I know might suck to hear might be worth pushing for a small surgery now while it's still small

How's you at the moment? My scar is causing me problems along with new sinus which is bleeding now!!! It's never ending? Have you seen the surgeon yet?

Hi guys. I seem to be doing alright now and am hoping for best. Still on antibiotics course which seems to be working - much better than it was. Sam - thanks for the message buddy it's frustrating in that regard as you'd think a surgery would be the answer to a problem rather than something you'd have to keep having done :/ I was under the impression that the cleft lift gets rid of the disease all together. I really won't be able to sit easily if I have another so trying to avoid anything at all costs

Glad it hear you are improving. Mine now has a small crater/hole. It's been leaking clear/pink all afternoon. So depressing. I hope it's superficial. Hopefully will get in the doctors tomorrow. I knew it wasn't right in weds when it was checked x

I thought it got rid of it too man I couldn't live with mine the way it was anymore way too painful and had spread to a large area. Well idk if my surgeon is being negative I just don't think he wants me to be disappointed should it not work properly which it hasn't so I guess I will just keep trying have more surgery to get rid of this thing once and for all but I have a feeling that this is going to be an uphill struggle.

Best of luck to you with ur healing and I hope in your case u don't have to have more.

I was admitted to the surgical assessment unit yesterday as I have a abscess in my surgical wound. The new sinus has travelled up through my scar tissue as it was easiest way out. The option of living with it has gone now. I'm managing abscess now and will see surgeon in a couple of wks and get booked in. Saw annoying but we can beat this!!!!

Hi guys just wanted to check in and say I'm doing alright now. Just been taking it easy and not cycling! Hopefully will be a decent new start and all that. Will be back if anything else happens I'm sure. Good luck with all of yours
