My son will be undergoing a pit picking procedure next month. Just trying to see how well it has worked for others.

I had pit picking + laser 3 weeks ago .
Everything was great. No pain . Just the day of the surgery I stayed at home.

What kind of laser?
The surgery is called : Pit Picking + Silac (Sinus Laser ablation) . They just ontroduce the laser sonde through the little holes that they do.

The laser is called biolitec I think. It was used before for the anal fistulas and they also use now for the sinus pilonidal.

I had done the procedure in Switzerland, because I am living here ..
It is true that it is difficult to find a surgeon that perform this technique . In Europe now it is getting more and more famous but I don't know there... Sorry.

I see a lot of posts about pit picking but no body posts results. From personal experience with my 2 sons, it does not work. They had pit picking twice and the disease kept coming back. They did not have the laser though. I am not sure how will the laser take care of the deep seated hair. If it was me, I would go with the tried and proven surgery: the cleft lift. The key is to find a good surgeon with good experience with it with least complications. My to go to surgeon would be Dr Wadie in Raleigh NC since you live in the states. If you can go to him it is well worth it. He did the cleft lift on my 2 sons with no issues for 2 years after several months of failed surgeries.

I had the operation 5 weeks ago. At this moment I am pretty good already.everithing is closed and fully healed.
I am sure that the cleft lift is more effective and with less reocurrence rate, but the laser procedure is less invasive . I was working the day after the procedure..
I had an open exicision one year ago and I spent more than two months in the healing process. I wanted to try something different and less invasive and till this moment I am very happy (I know that it is very recent, but at least I didn't experience any pain)
It is something that you have to consider... (Efficiency or timing)
All best

You can check how they do the laser procedure in YouTube. I think it is quite convincing but I am not an expert...

Hi I'm new here. Hoping to help my son. He originally had one pit but now has 3. We live in Missouri, and do not know of any doctors who treat these. Alex2222 - Are you still doing well after your procedure? If anyone has recommendations for a doctor in the St. Louis MO area, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes! I am doing good. My scar is sometimes a little bit irritated... But nothing serious.
They did the laser procedure on scar tissue, and it took a little bit more time to heal. But if for your son is the first time, it should be a very fast recovery. I don't know if you have this procedure in the states, but I really recommend it. I will repeat it if I need another operation....
Good luck!

Thank you for your fast response. Can you tell me more about the laser and what exactly the laser is for? I really appreciate your information.

The laser si called Filac and it is used tu burn all the cavities and the tracks under the skin. They just do a little hole to introduce it. You can search it in YouTube.
