good luck man, I just had my surgery today, it was suppose to be an open one but he decided to close it. He did cut the pits out. I had about 4 pits, how many do you have? Hopefully I have no problems.
Day number two:
Not much pain at all, just a little stinging here and there. I got to take the gauze off and witness the carnage. I had one little stitch where the pit was and my cyst was cut through and stitched up. But seriously if this works, this is probably the best surgery in the entire world. Ever. Even better than the entire "all the ice cream you can eat after a tonsillectomy" thing.
Now, instead of eat all the ice cream u want, it's eat all the steak you want! (protein). OH! I just had a lightbulb! Whenever I get the surgery done, I am so going to make my hubby get me some steak, just for having to go through the crap of this! Please do keep us posted! I want to know how the pit picking heals! (This one seems the least invasive to me, and that would be a plus!)
What did your surgeon say about healing time and time off work?
Also, do you know if he cut out the pit or cut through it? Did you have an abscess as well or any other incisions made?
Last of all, were you given any bandage over the wound or special instructions?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm having pit picking done early tomorrow morning myself, but I've got 4 pits. Needless to say I'm very nervous and a bit scared but also quite anxious to get it over with.
I just had my own pit picking yesterday. I'm about to 'witness the carnage' too! I was wondering what instructions they gave you for applying a new dressing or any other aftercare once you'd removed the packing and original dressing.
He just told me to put iodine on it three times a day and change the dressing. And shower once a day, no baths. I mean its like 4 days later it feels pretty sweet. My word of advice, eat a lot of oranges and in my case, tofu. I was kinda out of it for the last three days so I would say you would deff need some time off from work or whatever.
Yeah, those are pretty much the same instructions I was given. They gave me a bunch of vicodin but I don't even really need it anymore (it's only my second day).
I'd say the worst part was pulling the gauze out this morning!
