So on Saturday I went to the ER this is my fourth pilonidal cyst I usually get then like clock work every year and a half. I knew what to expect but I got totally out of the loupe with this one, he pull out some of the "fluid" with a needle and it was "clear" so he said it was a cyst (no shit) and it didn't need to be lanced. He continued to "drain" the cyst with needle I was weirded out by that. He didn't prescribe me any antibiotics because he said you don't need those for cyst?? I know something was wrong cause everytime i get one drained when I leave the room my pain is completely gone. Now this time when I got up my ass was still sore. I went home I felt the top of my cheek on the other side it's hard and painful I thought maybe it's just irritated. It'll get better. On the same night I had the most worse fever ever I was shaking so bad I couldn't lay on my side even. Next day I'm noticing some discharge from the area he stuck the needle and a buring tingling feeling I took the baggage off and it was discolored brown coming out i was starting to panic. The lump on the other side is getting large and painful when I tried to go to sleep I had to lay on my stomach I couldn't sleep at all no I can't walk or anything and I feel so much pressure when I stand between my cheeks I did hot compress today and I know I took a picture and noticed a white head forming and I can see the scar where he pricked me with the needle and it's really discolored, I'm stilling having fevers. I'm worried. Is that normal procedure for "clear liquid" the area where he stuck the needle to drain it is inflamed and feels puffy doesn't feel like any liquid but it's puffy..

I am so sorry to see this post as your experience. The doctor seems a bit inexperienced and uneducated about this condition. Do you have a primary physician or able to obtain one with experience of this medical condition? Pilonidal sinus / cyst location is a very delicate spot.

I don't know what happened but today it got so bad I couldn't walk I started crying. It finally bust on its own which is surprising mines never do that. I tapped it but the part where he stick the needle is still bruised. Can needles cause bruising ? It doesn't hurt but it's soreish not really I'm just happy it drained and man was it alot. And no I don't I usual go to the ER get it lanced and I'm done. I started taking garlic and vitamin c for my immunity. Maybe that helped it burst.

Thank you for replying to my post.

When one nurse put an IV on my left arm, I had bruising around the area. It could be possible that the needle provoked your skin enough to be that agitated and bruised.

On the daily my sinus discharges a foul smelling liquid. If my flareup gets really bad, it will burst with pus, blood and secretion of foul smelling liquid ranging, yellow, light brown, weird red, black or dark brown.

It gets pretty bad.
They are advising me to keep the area dry and clean as much as possible with sterile water. You can boil water and let cool to wash it clean if you feel it discharging.

And no problem, I'm going through a really rough time with my condition. Its 2 years and on going. I just want to be put to sleep.

If that could be an option provided to tomorrow, I will take it for myself. This whole thing is tiring.

Oh my God yours sound terrible! Are you getting the surgery for it? I been considering it but I don't want to be put under or have a whole in my butt for weeks months even. Then I hear all these horror stories of having to redo the surgery again. I don't think I could handle it but the flare ups are getting annoying. I wish the medical field knew more about it.

The best i have gotten was at saint Luke's in the phillipines. Doctor Jason rosca , a colorectal surgeon and wound specialist doctor samson. I can't afford the trip anymore and I have exhausted all my family medical leave of absence to be out of work for a long duration of time. And the surgery will bring another complication if they do not lance out the source completely. If they can remove the source of infection, I am sure it will heal better. Along with the effort of maintaining and assisting with the healing.

The doctors that have participated on my casehave said that my own is unusual and "complicated". Mine was cause by force and not the usual source on what would cause this condition.

I do apologize if I'm not really help. But for experience, the coloreactal and wound specialist at St. Lukes where the closest to having myself cured completely. If only i was given more time.
