So much blood and drainage :-(

Hi!

Almost three weeks ago I had a closed incision done on my pilonidal cyste. It has been a VERY slow healing process and not much has happened yet. I am crying every day because this process is so frustrating...
But the last couple of days I have tried to keep my head high and I have been positive that it’s gonna be alright. Until today..
The wound has had a small amount of light yellow/pink fluid drainage every day. Today the fluid literally ran in big red drops down my back when I laid on my stomach. And I feel so defeated! Here’s my logic: the more fluid = the worse is the healing...

What is your experience with this? I have been tested several times for infections and there’s none of that. I’m defeated and freaked out!! :-(

Hey. Sorry you have to go through this. Your logic about more fluid the worse healing is not necessarily true. Sometimes it's the opposite. What does your Dr. say about your recovery?

Staying mentally strong is important in my opinion! Try not to let slower recovery or any setbacks get to your head too much. What are some ways you are dealing with the stress?

The more fluid the less pressure and pain you will have I would sit In a hot tub to make it as tender and soft as possible and then get as much fluid out as possible then cleaning the area when you can't get anymore fluid out! When I had mine I could not even walk in till it opened up and the fluid started draining

I was just at my doctors yesterday and was immediately hospitalized. The fluid turned out to come from an abscess. But the operation went well, they drained the abscess and it’s now healing way better!
I have never delt with this much stress about a psysical problem, so I have no idea how to handle it... but my mood has gotten better since the operation!
