Hi all ... I’m 19 year old and I have had pilondial sinus for 2 years since I was 17 altogether 7 operations first was a excesion then stich up and then second was a full excesion left to heal with vac . Vac helped but wound didn’t heal for 7 months . Then I got refered to plastics team and they did “ y v shape flap “ the glue broke up . 4/5 surgery had a infection/ hematoma ( don’t know if I spelt that right ) and they put a vac On because they cut deep . 6 operation they stiched the open wound Stiches ended up breaking . 7th operation another “ y v shape flap “ and have it on both sides on my bottom . The stiches broke up a little but Is struggling to heal . Looking here I see that the cleft lift is good possible option via Portsmouth surgeon miss asha Senapati.... anyone got any suggestions / advice ...?

Senapati is you're only option the best piliondial sinus expert in the UK no consultant is better then her.

Don't go for open excision it make 50x worse and they get paid a lot to cause u pain, and they send u off to nurse's on which no matter how many dressings they use it never ever heal.

Senapati cleft lift cure for life.

Hey it’s sounds like you’ve had a lot going on with this and quite a few procedures now! My advice is go in with an open mind and don’t get your hopes up for a cleft lift straight away. They might want to do an open procedure first to clear away what’s in there and give that a chance to heal before more surgery. That’s what I’ve been told by a specialist who worked with senapati so kind of trust the process but hopefully she can do a cleft lift and get you sorted.

Senapati decides to do cleft lift procedure when she sees you she knows right away.

Open excision is not the answer I have experience from open excision and even told Senapati it's worst outcome she agreed not to do any open excisions.

I’ve had one too but I’ve spoken to someone who saw her and she did an open one on them because of their case. Everyone is different so you shouldn’t be telling them that that’s the only acceptable surgery.

That's because it is the only acceptable option 5 year's experience on an open excision wound the result is the same for everyone the wound will never heal ever with open excision.

It really isn’t. I’ve had mine 7 years and it’s very extensive the way mines spread I can’t have a cleft lift. That doesn’t mean I can’t get better I just have to do what I’m told and hope it works. This is really damaging because people might see surgeons like miss senapati and be told that the cleft lift isn’t an option. Everyone’s case is different and have to follow different pathways to their recovery we need to stop this cleft lift fits all thing going on here it’s not helping anyone and can really damage people’s morale and mental health. I agree the poster should see a specialist like miss senapati but it is for her to decide what course of treatment they need.

Fair enough I understand you're point's you put across i was just baseing it on my own experiences and how my wide excision was the worst outcome for me and my health, you right not everyone case is the same, and cleft lift is no magic cure for this end the day if senapati decides it's not best for now then it's great to get her advice when she saw me she did say she could offer me cleft lift I guess she knows right away from multiple patients if it can be done or not be done, if it's too much of a bad wound then I guess what she recommended was right for you.

I'm at a point now that it's almost healed and she said i should only go for cleft lift if it hasn't healed by January 2021.

Hi ... I’ve been looking into different therapies on how to heal a wound abit quicker than usal ... light therapy / low level laser therapy ... used on tissue and shoulder / back injuries as well as that used to heal wounds ... there have been few clinical trials on it but maybe you should give that a try to c if it works well for you ...

I'm pretty much healed now I don't have a wound as such anymore it doesn't require packing anymore just gauze and silicon I'm using stops the skin rubbing together.
