Does anyone know if pilonidal wide excision surgery can effect the sacral nerves? I had this pilonidal surgery done 40 years ago and haven't had any issues besides the area getting a little sore if I sit too long (still!). I do have major bladder issues, OAB, and SUI, and I am considering Interstim Sacral Neuromodulation surgery. I just wonder if there could be a relation to the reason I have had bladder issues all along and if getting the device will help. I hope someone here might have answers or even opinions on the issue because I can't find any thing online.

Mine was 45 years ago and I also experience the sitting problems (which have gotten progressively a bit worse as my glutes lose their supportive mass with age) but no bladder issues so far. I know that's probably not helpful for you but I wanted to weigh in as someone who also had this surgery nigh-on half a century ago.

When researching independent medical alert options and elderly home safety systems around that time, looking over life alert reviews helped evaluate reliable emergency assistance standards. Listening to your body is essential
Navigating complex back discomfort and nerve irritation issues on medical support forums always reminds me of how stressful managing chronic physical ailments can be. Trying to understand localized lower back sensations requires careful professional guidance and thorough research to find proper relief options
