Inflammation

Hello, I’m 27 and experiencing inflammation around the area. I was having extreme pain and couldn’t sit or barely walk. I drive myself to the ER and was diagnosed with a PC but it hadn’t gotten that bad the ER nurse lanced and drained it. No packing it was small cut. But the skin around it is so inflamed and swollen I still can’t sit or barely walk. I’m on antibiotics and pain meds. Been out of work for about a week. :-( HELP! Does this sound familiar?

Yes, it does. Everyone is different though. I had the same when I was 19. It tends to flare up more if you are menstruating because of the hormone change. Listen to your medical providers, but I found salt baths helpful.

*** Update So I had to return back to the ER I was in so much agony from the pain. So when I first went to the ER they cut a small incision and drained it (Monday 2/19) fast forward till yesterday morning Saturday(2/24) I returned to the ER crying in agonizing pain. Well apparently the incision was too small and healed over without the fluid properly draining cause fluid and pressure buildup (agonizing pain) so the 2nd ER doctor (who was way more trained) cut the incision wider which immediately released the fluid and relieved the pain. He packed it with a small piece of cloth to help drain it and sent me home with more antibiotics and pain meds. Currently I'm not pain free but it’s minor minor discomfort. And my wound is draining a lot mostly blood and fluid.

Poor thing. PC and PD are just not very well known by all medical providers, so it is difficult to get adequate care. I am glad you got some relief from the second incision.

So sorry to hear you had to go through this. I&D local anesthetic did nothing for me and I recall screaming in the doctor's office.

But yes, there is relief afterwards. Hope you heal up soon.

Update : HEALING VERY WELL !!! And I’m able to sit and drive the wound from the lancing is closing, there’s still fluid build up but it’s coming out slowly and I’m PAIN FREEE thank God !
Although I do find the longer I sit the more fluid builds up but I’m going to see a specialist Friday so I’ll let you guys know how that goes !! Ttyl

Update : I’m fully back to regular activities and schedule did not have a cleft lift I still do feel a lump when I press the area but no pain and no flare up so far. This has been since Feb 25th I got my 1st cyst drained at the hospital er. Praying everything continues on this path !
