Hello good people! I am new here and read a lot of your posts on the pilonidal sinus disease on this forum. I am from Bangladesh.
Here is my ongoing saga -
About 3-4 months back I finally went to a colorectal surgeon who diagnosed me with chronic Pilonidal Sinus & recommended Limberg Flap surgery. I have had the pain for about 3 years with no discharge or cyst formation prior to that 3-4 months when suddenly something popped up and discharged pus and blood from my right natal cleft.
The surgery took place on March 30th with no issue and I got home after a three days hospital stay. My surgeon did not give me a post operative drain. After my first follow up dressing on April 4th, I noticed a discharge line visible from the outer padding bandage & went back to the surgeon as soon as the next day. He got a little confused & opened two sutures so that the accumulating discharge can drain faster. Note that it was not pus and only white reddish blood serum like substance.
Fast forward to today (19th April) and I have already changed the dressing more than ten times with little to no improvement on that discharge but some of my sutures have been healed and cut accordingly. Today I am going for another minor surgery where he (my surgeon) will open the suture a bit more and "clean the area" & then place a drain. More restricted movements incoming!
I have not been seating (except for the toilet) or laying flat since March 30th and there is a horrible pain in my lower abdomen with movements that won't go away. I have not move a lot except for roaming slowly across the house this whole time.
So, if you are in a position like me, don't give up and stay strong. The pain I have suffered from the disease easily surpasses all this sufferings I have been going through now. Let's hope for the best and fight on.
