My ongoing experience with the disease

Hello good people! I am new here and read a lot of your posts on the pilonidal sinus disease on this forum. I am from Bangladesh.

Here is my ongoing saga -
About 3-4 months back I finally went to a colorectal surgeon who diagnosed me with chronic Pilonidal Sinus & recommended Limberg Flap surgery. I have had the pain for about 3 years with no discharge or cyst formation prior to that 3-4 months when suddenly something popped up and discharged pus and blood from my right natal cleft.

The surgery took place on March 30th with no issue and I got home after a three days hospital stay. My surgeon did not give me a post operative drain. After my first follow up dressing on April 4th, I noticed a discharge line visible from the outer padding bandage & went back to the surgeon as soon as the next day. He got a little confused & opened two sutures so that the accumulating discharge can drain faster. Note that it was not pus and only white reddish blood serum like substance.

Fast forward to today (19th April) and I have already changed the dressing more than ten times with little to no improvement on that discharge but some of my sutures have been healed and cut accordingly. Today I am going for another minor surgery where he (my surgeon) will open the suture a bit more and "clean the area" & then place a drain. More restricted movements incoming!

I have not been seating (except for the toilet) or laying flat since March 30th and there is a horrible pain in my lower abdomen with movements that won't go away. I have not move a lot except for roaming slowly across the house this whole time.

So, if you are in a position like me, don't give up and stay strong. The pain I have suffered from the disease easily surpasses all this sufferings I have been going through now. Let's hope for the best and fight on.

Update: So the drain has not been places since my wound apparently has a lot of pockets that was discharging. The surgeon made another cut and put gauges in both cuts after cleaning. Today was my first gauge change and he is certain that this will stop the fluid after 3 to 4 gauge changes, after that he plans to suture the cuts once and for all.

I have a 100 degree celsius temperature since today morning with usual weakness from powerful antibiotics given for 15 days more.

Update 2: It looks like I am getting the sutures the day after tomorrow. Horrible (depressing) experience awaits being the third time to be admitted to the hospital and going to the same OT for the third time concurrently. I pray & hope this would be the last time by the grace of Allah.

Hello. Yes I am fully recovered now. It is merely a cosmetic sight now with no irritations.

But there is a location on the tailbone that still didn't connect with all the muscles internally, no feeling on touch in that area.

Let me know if I can suggest you my own healing booster ideas. Hope for the best

I am glad to hear there isn't irritation for you anymore.

Sure, I am open to hearing your ideas on the healing process.

Good day to all the fighting folks in the forum. So I have been feeling a little pain in the same general area again recently but now mostly on the left side.

There's no visible abscess or anything other than the obvious stich marks on my right side.

Hoping to see my surgeon next week. Love and hope for you all ❤️

So sorry to see your reply this late. My cocktail is a mixture of - 1 TS Turmeric, 2 TS Honey, 1 or 1/2 TS sliced Ginger, 1 or 1/2 TS Garlic, all mixed together into luke warm water.

I also ate Black Cumin kneaded to a soft, moist mass and mixed with spices. This also helped a lot.

I hope you are doing well.

Thanks for passing this along. I am fortunately recovered from the surgery. The surgeon is recommending I follow up with laser hair removal. I am waiting for her nurse to call me and schedule.

Really glad to hear that. I am considering laser hair removal as well after I sort out this recurring session. All the best

Thank you. Are you positive it is a recurrence?
Met the surgeon yesterday & he said there's nothing that indicates a recurrence yet but couldn't identify any cause for the PD like pain I am feeling in the tailbone middle & left. He also only prescribed a nerve relaxer and a vitamin B complex tablet.
