PC flare ups

Hello- I’ve been having PC flare ups since I was 15 yrs old. Usually they are painful but they always drain on their own and then the area is no longer painful and I go on with my life. I’m now 23 yrs old (female) and I get about 4-5 flare ups a year. I’ve never had to seek medical attention for this issue- I plan to eventually consult with a Dr. once I am out of graduate school and can afford to do something about it.
1. I am causing more harm by waiting to have this addressed?
2. What are some ways to help the cyst drain or relieve the pain? Or at home treatments? I’ve seen some mention of tea tree oil.

thank you! I absolutely hate that I have this and as a young woman it’s beyond embarrassing to even talk to people about (I just need get over that though I suppose).

Hello!

I don't know of any home remedies, but I wanted to reach out and let you know I am a 24 year old female dealing with this as well. I often find it so embarrassing to talk about, and it keeps me from wanting to connect with new people romantically. I am also in graduate school, so I feel your pain. I had general excision surgery in 2017 and my surgical site continues to discharge some sort of brown fluid most days. I am sort of ignoring this for now (using gauze each day to keep everything dry), but I'm starting to think that looking for a cleft lift surgeon is a now or never type situation.

Our stories are different, but I would encourage you to start researching what would be best for you based on your symptoms. For me and for many, that looks like a cleft lift surgery instead of an excision surgery. I was originally referred to a colon and rectal clinic, but for round two I think I will stick with someone who specializes in pilonidal surgery. Anyway, I hope this helps and you aren't in this alone. I take baths with Epsom salt sometimes if it's been a particularly bad flare-up day.

I think you need to have this addressed by a pilonidal specialist. Just doing nothing is not going to make it go away.
The disease is just going to get more tracks underneath the skin.

A cleft lift done by an experienced surgeon is your best bet. I have personal experience with Dr Wadie in Raleigh who cured my 2 sons after 2 years of misery. If you can go to him it is well worth it

My 1st one was just after high school and they'd comeback afew years then it went away until about my guessing 30s before another flare up and after afew went away for years.

About 2 years ago it came back and now I get them frequently almost every few months and inbetween there is stuff dripping outta there.

Sometimes I can just take my fingers and squeeze on it and stuff comes outta there.

But since afew years ago it never went away like it used to when I was younger.

It's just always there now.

My son is 16 and suffers from PD and HS. We have scheduled surgery with Dr, Wadie in NC. I see you were very happy with him. If there is any other details you can share it would be greatly appreciated. We will be traveling from Florida for the procedure.
