Please given surgeon recommendations in Georgia

I am desperate to find a surgeon in Georgia as I cannot travel, especially with the coronavirus pandemic. I have read of Dr. Ramakrishnan on this site, but she is unfortunately out of my insurance network. I am dead set on the cleft lift procedure as I want the least possibility of this ever coming back. I have been dealing with cysts for the past five years, and ever since November of 2019 my cyst flares up every 2 weeks. Please share experiences if you have any!

I know you are looking to stay as close to home as possible but if you are unable to find anyone in GA you should consider Dr. Wadie in NC. If you have someone available to drive you, you would only need to stay 1-2 nights in a hotel. I wish I could help with doctors in GA but I can definitely recommend Dr. Wadie in NC!

I am following this because I am also in Georgia! Have you had any success finding anyone? If I find anyone I will let you know.

I actually am 2 days post op from my cleft lift! I only found Dr. Ramakrishnan being mentioned on the website but she is out of my network so I kept calling around and was told Dr. Yu at Northside Atlanta performs it and she did it on me! If you have had a previous surgery, I would recommend someone like Dr. Wadie or Immerman or someone else who "specializes" in pilonidal disease though. This was my first surgery and I felt comfortable with Dr. Yu. She listened to my concerns and did not try to force me to do any other procedures and was very patient with me. So far everything looks okay, no pain as of yet. Good luck, I hope you can find someone who you feel comfortable with!

Sorry to revive an old threat... Does anyone have experience with Dr. Ramakrishnan? I have a lift procedure scheduled next week and would feel much better hearing from someone with first hand experience. Thanks!

Hi @throwoutaccount, how’s your recovery from the CL w/ Dr. Yu? Any complications? Fully healed now? Would you recommend her?

Hi @Flyfisher, how did your CL go with Dr. Ramakrishnan go?

@ellysparkles I had my procedure 5 weeks ago and just had my last follow up appt today. She said I was pretty much fully healed and she cleared me to go back to daily life pre-surgery (except no swimming or biking for another 2 weeks). I have no complaints. Note that her incisions are on/close to the midline. You can barely tell I have a scar unless you are close up . I haven’t had any issues healing and fingers crossed I don’t have any reoccurrence. She is a colorectal surgeon and does not exclusively treat pilonidal disease, but appears to have performed her version of the bascom flap procedure numerous times.

She also has awesome bedside manner. She spoke to me for like 30 minutes during my initial consult and called me the next day after hours and spoke to me for another 45 minutes to make sure I was comfortable with everything and to answer all my questions about the procedure.

I don’t regret my decision to use her by any means , but if I have any complications/reoccurrence and need another procedure I would lean towards going to Dr. Wadie in Raleigh since it is driving distance from ATL and he seems to specialize in the disease.
