Hi there my names abby!!! I had my first flare up when i was 14 years old, i had no idea what it was at the time and dealt with hiding it from my parents until the cyst finally busted and i went to the dr and they told my mom i had a pilonidal cyst and i had the surgery, went through the packing for about a month and was healed, fast forward 14 years later and here I am 28 years old and my most recent flare up was in June of this year, i had it lanced and drained and then another flare up in September and then had it lanced and drained, I recently saw a surgeon who recommended this site to me for support and while i go through this journey, he advised me of the skin punching procedure to get the sinuses out and the flap procedure if it comes back.
Also, he told me that he sees pilonidal disease fizzle out in your 30’s so that made me hopeful that it will go away here in a couple of years and just praying i dont have to have surgery in the next couple of years, he did advise to just keep the area clean as possible post lancing and keep moisture out! and dont slouch and watch your posture and i should be fine! He gave me hope that this nightmare will be over soon!
