Alina’s story

May 13, 2015

1 month post surgery. I didn’t do my research I think I made the biggest mistake: I left them do the excision with primary closure (midline). My wound was so nice in the first week. I had no pain and in 4 days I was able to sit, walk without any discomfort. After week 2 my wound started discharging. Been seen by surgeon, nurse. Everyone said it’s fine and it looks good (didn’t believe them). It was smelling so bad. Week 3- I have seen the nurse again: everything is fine (but still discharging and not healed). The nurse took a sample (just in case) but the wound looks not infected like she said. Week 4 – wound redness and discharging(still not healed). I have seen the nurse today. The results came back: wound infection. If you think something is wrong with your wound “fight” with them and ask them to check it properly. You know your own body. If you think something is going on take a step now. This wound sucked all the life in me.
