Bec’s story

July 3, 2011

Wow, all you people seem to have had your cyst for years, I seriously don’t how you put up with it. Mine all started in April this year at Easter. I was on holidays at the time, and I woke up and could not move. I had this huge lump down their. I took myself to emergency, where they told me I had an abcess, but that they couldn’t help me, I would have to be transferred out. So they dosed me up on morpheine, which I was on every hour, drove me out to a bigger hospital and operated.

I woke up and they told me it was not an abcess, but 3 huge thrombosed clotted hemmeroids…So they release me the next day, my 34th birthday..I’m laying in bed crying, burning, thinking this can’t be right, I dosed myself up on the morpheine tablets they gave me, guzzled a jim beam, and still didn’t help. Hubby called an ambulance, rushed back to hospital, and I told them they were going to readmit me, and fix it. Next morning I was rushed off to surgery, woke up and was told that they had drained an abcess, which they think I developed from the hemmeroid removal.

They release me 2 days later, my mum drove all the way down, picked me up and bought me home. I waited for a nurse to visit as I was told I would have an in house nurse daily. Turns out the hospital couldn’t be bothered to organise one. They had lanced it, drained it and left it with no gauze. 5 days later I am in in emergency again, this time it was bigger, and right in the butt crack.

So I am readmitted and a 3rd surgeon is looking at all my glory…this time they really took a chunk out of me, drained and scraped it. Spent 5 days in hospital (missed mothers day with my kids, also missed easter with my kids)…they send me home, and this time I had a nurse visit everyday, they would clean it and cover it in a gauze.

After 6 weeks I had to go back and see the surgeon. He informed me that the surgeon who first removed the cyst, had botched the job, and he had to go in deep. He also informed that the surgeon who performed the hemmeroid removal botched that job also, so now I am going back for a 4th operation to have hemmeroids removed and all a camera so he can see why it is that I keep getting the cysts. It took me 4 weeks to get off the morpheine, and it’s now been 2 months and beisdes being in pain from hemmeroids everyday, I must admit that my butt is also sore around the scar and my back hurts on a daily basis, probably from sitting on a slant (trying to take the weight off my sore butt cheek).

I am not looking forward to the 4th operation, but I am confident that this surgeon will do everything in his power to help me.
