To Amanda: Hi Amanda, Definitely don’t wait for the surgery. Some of these stories are scary and seem like itll have control for the rest of your life but it wont. Since last May, I’ve had 2 PCs. My first one, they did the closed wound procedure which although I recovered faster, it did not do the trick since another one formed shortly after. I had a second surgery in november and this time with the open wound procedure and although its a wayy longer recovery process, to me at least, its more effective. The most common wound healing is open and then closed. They usually put you under general anesthesia for the surgery. You won’t feel a thing while they are doing it and will most likely be sleeping through it. The first couple days afterwards are pretty rough, not gonna lie, whether you do open or closed but depending on what type of wound care youll be receiving depends on how fast youll recover. When I did closed, I recovered in around 3 weeks. Open wound, I am still recovering and although it has been two months now, I feel wayy better than when I did closed incision care. To you and everyone else, it does get better, even if it seems hopeless at times. I felt that way too. You just gotta do everything you can to help you recover as fast as you can!
