My Pilonidal story(a little long) So when this allllll first started I was 16 and I’m 20 now.
My tailbone started hurting really bad I couldn’t sit and it was just really sore so I opened my butt cheeks and had a nice look and found 2 small black dots and panicked. Went to the doctor and he told me there was nothing to worry about and sent me home. A few days later I got a cyst. Went back to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics. It went away. For a while.
I got another cyst a year later and this happened every year like clockwork until I made the very brave decision to get the surgery. I put the surgery off for so so long because I just can’t afford to be out of work and I travel a lot through the year so it was just not an option. Even with a holiday booked for July this year and it being March now and with the doctor telling me that the recovery process could take up to a year I took the risk.
Just a week ago I had the worst cyst I’ve ever had and decided I never want to go through this again and I’m done with it so I booked myself in to surgery 6 days ago and the wound was left open to heal from the inside out. It might be too soon to speak on the healing process but I just want to say after reading negative story after negative story about this horrible disease I want to share my positive one and what I’m doing to help with the recovery. the day after surgery I barely felt any pain. I could walk around I was grocery shopping and cleaning the house which I was really surprised about and it’s been the same since a week ago when I got the surgery. I was stressing out about having to go in to the doctors every day to get the wound packed as I’ve heard it’s dreadful and have watched videos and was scared to death.
I can say that the pain is absolutely nothing compared to the pain of the pilo and am so happy that I got over my fear of pain and got this over with(even though the healing process is far from over and there’s still the chance of it coming back) my doctor says that he thinks I’m going to be healed very quickly which makes me soooo happy to hear.
Now the supplements I’ve been taking is turmeric capsules, spirulina capsules, vitamin c capsules as well as making fresh orange juice every morning. I’m also taking probiotics and drinking lots and lots of water. And I am actually vegetarian so I hope that helps too.
This is my story made short and it’s still long but I hope my sort of positive experience inspires others to go through with this!!!!!
