Chae-Lyn S’s story

November 24, 2010

Okay so, I posted on this site about two weeks ago, saying how scared and such I was for surgery etc, I now have an update ๐Ÿ™‚ So I decided to come to the city and get examined by a general surgeon, upon looking at it, he decided to admit me into the hospital and start me on even more anti-biotics and he would come look at it the following morning, so he comes the next day and says it looks like it’s improving, but I know better, it’s still the worst it’s ever been, so I ask the nurses to see my family doctor, he looks at it for about three seconds and says, okay, “it’s abcessed now and needs to come out” The day after my surgeon comes in again and says okay we’ll take this thing out, he wanted to keep me in the hospital all weekend on anti-biotics, but lucky me, I suppose, a few others came in needing emergency surgery so it was set for Friday evening at six, and let me tell ya, after three days of not eating and being in so much pain, I was still very very nervous. So I was put under a general anesthesia and was out in about three seconds lol, and woke up in so much pain, but they hooked me up to a morphine thing that let me dose myself every ten minutes, I was on that til the following day til they cut me off ๐Ÿ™ and I was only allowed to take Tylenol, ( it was an open exicision by the way) the second day of packing was the WORST! Each day gets better though, the nurses say it looks great, mine was relatively small and is about an inch and a half incision and half an inch deep? Maybe? I was lucky and it never leaked as a pilonidal, but now I get a brownish discharge which has to do with the iodine packing I guess. I haven’t looked at it, don’t really plan on it lol, I don’t like wounds at all ๐Ÿ™ I’m on day five now and can sit pretty good, still trying to be careful though, and it’s supposed to be packed everyday, only once though, thank god, and have to take almost no pain medication, my body is still coming off the anti biotics so I can’t eat much, I should be able to go home Monday, cross your fingers for me ๐Ÿ™‚ I think this is turning out to be a real success story though, considering after reading these other stories I was terrified, if your ever scared, just try to push through it and know that things get much better ๐Ÿ™‚ good luck
