So when I was about 16 I thought as many of you did on here that it was some sort of sports injury. That somehow I bruised my tailbone. One day I decided to look for what the problem was. I noticed bleeding and had to check it out, the pain was so bad I couldn’t even sit in a chair.
I finally got the courage to tell my mom that something has been hurting me and showed her what it was( most embarrassing moment of my life). We went to the doctors a few weeks later as I could still not sit. The doctor told me my best option was surgery, that was the only way it was truly going to heal.
So fast forward 3 months and I was on my way to surgery, mind you at this point I was having non stop flare ups and was on antibiotics every other week. So the surgery goes well and I wake up and my doctor told me that he understands why I was in such pain, my cyst was almost 9 inches long, I don’t know how it got that big because I only started to feel it a couple months before.
Anyway so I took the whole summer off from sports and work to heal, and 3 months later I was still not close to healing and my wound opened and I was forced to have someone come to my house and pack it every day. I ended up missing the first two weeks of school because I could still not sit in a chair.
Fast forward to a year later and the cyst is still not healed. I go to the doctor and they tell me that the surgery did not work and I would have to get another. I’m sure by now you guys can see how this is going.
Long story short I’ve had a total of 4 surgeries in the past 5 years and as I sit here still not healed currently going through a flare up I can tell you that surgery is not always the best option and has put me in some pretty good debt because of it.
