I am a 26 year old female living in arizona with absolutely no health care, at the moment no job (therefor no source of income to pay for medical attention) and furthermore, absolutely no pain tolerance….i have been a hard worker my whole life and recently left a good paying job due to labor laws being completely ignored….about a week ago i noticed my tail bone was sore and chalked it up to sitting so much since being unemployed (its been about a month now). The next day i could barely sit…my boyfriend’s 4 year old son came over and usually i have no problem running around with him or plaing video games with him but that day i was in so much pain and assumed my tailbone might be bruised so i just layed in bed all day. as the day progressed i can feel that my backside was slightly swollen…living in arizona we have all sorts of nasty bugs so i thought maybe i was bit by a brown recluse (a spider who’s venom is extremely painful and eats through skin). I was a little worried but decided to wait it out. The following morning i could barely move. i looked in the mirror and saw there was a swollen red knot IN MY BUTT CRACK!! i than spent the whole day looking all over the internet and finally came to this website which, without a doubt, told me i had a pilonidal cyst. I called my grandmother who informed me my grandfather used to get them…yay genetics. That night was the worst. i could barely sleep…the pain was so bad. i got out of bed crying and laid awake on the couch all night unable to move…it was a chore to get up to use the bathroom…i walked with a hunch and cried with every step. than there was yesterday…i was laying on the couch and found that i could move positions with little pain. i got up and walked painlessly to the bathroom and saw that the cyst was draining (a putrid smelling pus but the pain was more than bareable)…i had a fever off and on all day but i slept throughout the night without a problem and today i have been getting in and out of bed with no problem and able to walk around pain free…the swelling has gone down a large percent and although it is still draining i plan on slapping a sanitary napkin on it and leaving the house for the first time sincethis ordeal started.
