Frank’s story

September 29, 2011

I had cyst removed 33 years ago, had huge hole which took 2 months to heal. It never healed right and about 2 times a year it would hurt, usually because I had put pressure on it by sitting too long or being sick and staying in bed too long. I never sleep on my back due to scar.

Well now I had to have surgery on foot to repair torn tendon. Will be out of work for at least 3 months. First 2 weeks was in bed with foot elevated and being iced down due to swelling. My scar started to hurt really bad. I tried everything to keep pressure off scar. Went to doctor who gave me pain pills that were more powerfull than ones I had for foot surgery. Sent me to surgeon who said only way to see if cyst had come back was to open it up again. I had no choice but to have it done. He found no cyst but revised the scar. Now I have a 5 to 6 inch scar. Stiches will come out in 3 weeks.

So now I cannot walk or sit. I can lay on my side now at least. I had gone back to original surgeon about a year after it had been removed and complained about it pulling and not being right and he told me it was normal. Guess I should have gotten second opinion. I hope after it heals this time it will be ok. If your scar still bothers you years after your surgery please get it looked at.
