john’s story

October 29, 2013

I’ve had three really bad ones of the past 20 years. Ibuprofen and a heating pad has worked for me. Using a hot heating pad will help bring it to the surface, but dont get it so hot you burn yourself. It usually takes two or three days for me to get the draining to start. Sometimes it will drain all at once, other times it will just drain a clear liquid and later you get the blood and pus mixture that smells awful. Once you get that out, its usually over and with a few precautions I wont see it again for years. Those being a tush cush when driving the car and not slouching in a chair. I think the tush cush has done the most for prevention. The last one I had was lasted 3 or 4 weeks from start to finish. I had a few days where i thought it was going away, but it flared right back up. Its almost drained completely. The pain is gone, but the area is sore.
