K’s story

November 3, 2011

I had my pilonidal cyst for at least 8 years or more and always just lived with it. I had it drained 2x and it wasn’t until the second draining that I found out I could get it surgically removed. I was like “What”? I had no idea that was an option and then I went on this website and really became educated in this disease. I decided to get it removed via closed suture and am about 5 weeks post-op.

Overall, the process has been good. Although, it does help that I just finished school and can recover at home for as long as I want. The hardest part is the “no bending forward” precaution and that it’s hard to sit normal.

I am really thankful to this site for providing someone like me the resources I need to deal with this.
