Hi every one this is my experience. Around six months ago I got a pain in my back side, I came to the conclusion that I must of fallen (even though I could not remember falling) my mother had also told me I was probably sitting wrong. I ignored the pain and kept quiet until one morning, I woke up at around 5 am and and felt like vomiting for the next 3 hours I lied flat on my stomach on the bathroom floor because it was the only comfortable place.
My whole family was laughing at me because they thought I was over-reacting. By that afternoon the pain in my back side had turned into a giant cyst I had a very high fever and could barely move. My mum rang up our local GP and booked me in for the next afternoon, when I got to the doctors office he said that it was a abscess and I had two options. 1. Bite on a towel while he lanced it (he said that numbing it wouldn’t work because it was so big) or 2. Go home and sit in the bath until it popped. I went home and the pain was so unbearable that the next afternoon mum took me to the hospital I was put in the ER and the doctor told me immediately that it was a pilonidal cyst and that it needed lancing.
They took me into the operating room and knocked me out while they lanced and then packed it (They couldn’t believe what the other doctor had told me and said that it wouldn’t of popped on it own). For the next 5 weeks I had to go every day to every second day for it to be cleaned and repacked.
My pilonidal cyst healed really fast and so far it hasn’t come back (fingers crossed) The doctor at the hospital booked me in to see a specialist that said to leave it unless it flares up so, so far I don’t need surgery how ever if it does come back I will definitely be getting the surgery at 15 this is the most painful thing that has ever happened to me.
