lisa’s story

November 29, 2011

I am a 20 year old, from the UK, and firstly I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one, or the only girl! About a year ago I had a small cyst, which was quite painful and I was given antibiotics, and it went away fine. Last week I started to get the pain again, I went to the doctors 5 days ago and was again given antibiotics. Today I went to the doctors as the cyst had tripled in size and I was in terrible pain (mine is about 2 inches long, and half an inch wide). He referred me to the surgical ward at my local hospital…after a few (uncomfortable) hours sitting in the waiting room, I was told I couldn’t be operated on today. I am going back at 8am tomorrow for surgery. I am told that they will leave the wound open for healing. I have no idea what to expect, and I am really scared and embarrassed. I have never had surgery or even been in hospital in my 20 years. Reading everyone’s bad experiences has worried me, but the positive stories are helping a little. Still sooooo scared!! 🙁
