Hi, I am a 42 yr. old female that has been dealing with reaccuring flare ups or infections for about 4 yrs. now.
Funny thing is I’m having a really bad flare up now after having 2 surgerys already so I randomly decided to come to this site only to find out I signed up in 2014 and was already a member. I’ve heard it’s unusual to get a piladonial Cyst so close to your 40’s but the more I read maybe it is not so uncommon huh? I told my Dr. Probably 5 yrs. ago that it felt like my butt crack was being ripped apart from the inside out and It’s excruciating, he looked at it, seen nothing and said ” looks fine ” and that was it until I was in the ER with a tail, YES my friends that have probably been there already it was so huge.
My first surgery was torture, I woke from Anastasia only to have a nurse with 5 students watching hand me a Vicodin, yes only one lousy vicodin then roll me on my stomach and rip the gauze out, It felt like my skin was going with it. I basically laid there and cried with my face crammed into my pillow and stayed like that for an hour without moving or saying one word. About an hr. After being violated a Dr. Or nurse brought me in some real pain relief, apologized and also kept me over night because the pain was so intense.
I had to have my packing changed everyday and my husband refused to do it. But thank the Lord I had a home care nurse, big problem was she only came 3 times a week. I actually managed to pack it a few times, missed a few times and was so totally desperate asked my friend to do it, I just didn’t give a damn by this time. It healed really slow about 6 weeks, which I know now is actually pretty good. I would say only 3 months after healing I was reinfected but too scared to go to ER right away so I soaked in a really hot Epsom Salt bath then sat on a garbage bag over a heating pad and that thing busted right open, all blood, no puss, but of course there is that worry that I’m not being packed and healing from the inside out but I sat back, kept it really clean and moist with this Solosite Wound Gel, gotta have that stuff during the healing process even with the packing, it helps to regenerate fresh tissue so your wound doesn’t dry out and stop closing and healing, good stuff.
After that about 6 months go by and again I feel the swelling, sharp razor blade slicing your skin and taking my breath away literally feeling again, I was working as a server/ bartender long hrs. And I honestly think it’s from constant running around and sweating and clothes rubbing finally irritating it AGAIN. I went to the bathroom at work and had blood clots all in my pants and from what I could see my skin was purple. During a busy busy weekend dinner rush I had to run up to the owner and say bye, going to the ER I’ll explain later.
I did lose my job because of this medical condition just to get that out of the way, and lost one more as well, so I give up, I have some other medical issues along with this and was sick of losing job after job so I’m filing for SSD and my appeal court date is in Sept. 2016 and I haven’t worked in 2 yrs. really sucks, miss the money but even more was the people and just having freedom and fun adult conversations.
Ok, this ER surgeon did much better, I had a rather large incision above and below where the prior surgeon operated he placed a drain tube, which is still open just a little bit for the past 2 yrs. lightly draining always, it sealed up a few times and I swelled right up so please pardon me sharing this but I had to personally reopen it and I have to always keep the dead skin cells out and keep it open or I’m, well, you know! This surgeon was supposed to do the BIG surgery but at the last minute he tells me he doesn’t accept my insurance.
I shop around and start to notice a lot of general surgeons don’t seem to know, understand or care about how painful this procedure really is so I just dropped it until this week. Im bleeding, hurting and swelling and I even had a low grade temp. I have an Appt. with a colorectal surgeon April 8th to discuss what we’re going to do. I watched surgerys on You Tube DONT DO IT!!!! All it did was make me worry worry worry, it’s not benificial trust me. I really want the cleft lift, from reading all over everywhere that seems to be the best outcome, however in Mi. Where I live it seems the injecting the die into the cyst and cutting the back open wherever the die goes to remove the tracks is the thing I keep hearing. I don’t want to look like Frankenstein, I’ve had 3 stomach surgerys and 2 I had staples hip to hip and the thought of being stapled again feels wrong, wrong I say.
