When I was 27 I developed low back pain that wouldn’t respond to pain medication. My mother had a history of pilonidal cysts but I never had any indication of one.
One night after putting heat on my lower back/buttocks area, my friend suggested applying pressure to the area as this had helped her back pain during childbirth. She applied firm direct pressure to the area and suddenly I felt a popping sensation followed by what I can only describe as what it would feel like to have thick fluid pressing through a small hole inside of my back. When she was done applying pressure, my pain was gone! I was amaze and incredibly greatful!
About 10 days later while showering, I found a large pimple near my rectum which I popped and treated until it healed about a week later. Am I crazy to think that what may have happened was that a pilonidal cyst had ruptured internally during that application of heat and pressure? I have had many instinces of the same type of pressure and pain since then and usually I notice some amout of foul smelling drainage before the pain goes away.
