I finally broke down and had my pilo removed by primary closure ( closed incision) on march 22. The doctor used button stitching, so my butt looked like a shoe lace. I finally got my stitches out today and my surgeon said he was very pleased with the healing. I do have a small amount of drainage at the bottom stitch which he said was normal, I am keeping my fingers crossed for it to heal completely soon.
He said to come back in 2 weeks if it has not stopped. I tried dealing with my pilo for 3 years before having the surgery done. I am a nurse and I tried to convince myself if i just kept it clean I could control it,but it got to the point where was having flare ups about every 3 months.
I would recommend to anyone able to get the surgery. I am so thankful for this website, I have been reading posts on here for the past 2 years. It can be very depressing and I am thankful for my husband for beings understanding. Good luck to everyone and just know you are not alone!
