I had PS surgery in 1980 when I was 18 years old. I am now 51 years old, and have had no recurrence. I do remember the excruciating pain that I had, as mine initially had to be lanced in the doctor’s office. After the surgery, I remember riding home stretched out in the back of a station wagon, with the large dressing that had to be changed. The area is occasionally sensitive, but I am careful to sit with good posture so as not to put undue pressure on the base of my spine.
I found this website because I have a teenage daughter that may now be suffering from the same problem. Time to take her to the doctor. Thank you for creating this website, and for sharing your stories. Best wishes to all of you!
