Rebecca’s story

April 12, 2014

I went over a year in pain because of every doctor I went to was misdiagnosing me. First they said I bruised my coccyx then they it was the way I was sitting. The pain just kept getting worse. In January 2013 it popped bleeding everywhere so my mom took me to another doctor who recommended me to a surgeon. After seeing the surgeon that same day he scheduled me for surgery the next day. Which was January 10th 2013. It was horrible especially when they took my pain meds away and just gave me ibroufuon which was not helping. It’s been over a year now and it still isn’t healed! I already missed tons of school because of this. Half a year last year and most of the year before that. I’m at the end of my freshman year and I haven’t been able to go back since March of this year. The pain is there a lot. I was starting to feel pressure there again but the doctor said everything was normal. A few days after something popped and there was a lot of bleeding. My mom took me in again but all the doctor said was that it was just a blood boil? Something like that and that it was nothing to worry about. it’s been a week or two since then and just haven’t been able to go back to school yet. I started driving school and just sitting there for those two hours killed me! I have a dull numb pain there which I have always had even before the surgery. I really hope it’s not coming back. I have another appointment on Monday with the doctor since the drainage is giving me a bad rash there. I have to return to school the next day. Hopefully this coccyx pillow my mom got me will help. As anyone used one of those before? As it helped? I sure hope so. I hate carrying a pillow around in school but if that’s what it takes to be there I have no other choice. Has anyone else’s taken this long to heal? The surgeon said that it was just taking a while to heal. It’s the size of a q-tip head now. Has anyone else had this much pain with theirs? The doctor doesn’t think it’s coming back. She said it looks healthy and the surgeon said it looks healthy as well. What can I do to help it heal? I’ve tried zinc for thirty days but that doesn’t seem to help. would bring overweight make it harder to heal? I gained a lot of weight over the past three years because I also have plantar fasciitis which makes it hurt to walk. I know eating more protein is supposed to help but it’s hard for me to eat more protein. My parents are on a budget so they can’t buy me protein shakes. They did once but since my dad doesn’t work they can’t afford to do it anymore. I just don’t know what to do anymore.
